FIREFIGHTERS’ WEEKEND TIMES and EVENTS

Thursday, September 9th 2010 @ 8:00 p.m.

Firefighters’ Candlelight Vigil
       ~This event will be held at the Firefighter Statue located downtown at Market and Tucker directly across the street from city hall.  All firefighters from the Metro area who have been killed in the line of duty will have their name read by candle light.  The vigil will last approximately one hour.

Friday, September 10th 2010 @ 5:00 p.m.

St. Louis & Metro Firefighters’ Ball 
       ~This event is open to the public and will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in the historic Laclede’s         Landing district of downtown St. Louis.
         The dress is black tie, with open bar, hand passed
hors d’ oeuvres, silent auction, seated dinner, and a live band.  All proceeds from the ball go to the Backstoppers, tickets can be purchased for $60 and are available at Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 “A          Firehouse Grill” This event will end at midnight.

Great Fire Engine Rally
       ~The 27th Annual Great Fire Engine Rally will start with a Big Fire Engine Parade starting at Jefferson and Washington heading east on Washington to L.K. Sullivan and will stop in front of the Gateway Arch.  We have a special tribute to the events and hero’s of 9-11-01. You can find a flea market, food, fire trucks on static display, and live fire and rescue demonstrations along with real firefighters competing in the Firefighter Challenge!!  The demonstrations will be every hour until 3:00 p.m.

Breakfast for Burn Camp
       ~This year the Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 will be hosting a Breakfast for Burn Camp!  This will be a buffet with all your favorites from the “Firehouse Grill”.  All proceeds will be donated to the Missouri Children’s Burn Camp, and ya better come hungry!!!!  The          breakfast buffet will be served until 2:00 p.m.

Firefighters’ Worship Service
       ~Right down the street from the Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 in the beautiful Lafayette Park there will be a nondenominational worship service for area firefighters and the public who loves them.  The service will include religious leaders from at least five different religions. There will be music and fellowship with refreshments to follow.  Please dress appropriate for weather conditions.  The Fellowship of Christian Firefighters- St. Louis Chapter will be hosting this first time event.  This service will last approximately an hour to an hour and a half.
